Riverbanks Zoo and Garden Riverbanks Zoo News

Anyone been to this zoo recently. I was wondering if anyone knew the rare reptile and bird species they hold? as there website is little help with this.

Just went yesterday.
Notable birds: lesser green broadbill (currently unsigned in the exhibit that’s got a Bali mynah sign), blue-naped laughingthrush, Madagascan green pigeon, Masai ostrich
Reptiles: Saharan sand viper, spearpoint leaftail gecko, eastern coral snake

Really enjoyed my visit but the zoo was smaller than I expected so I only spent a few hours.

Just saw my firsy green broadbill at Lincoln park and they are easily one of my favorite birds now, Such a beautiful species. The reptile species are all ones that have evaded me, so I am looking forward to seeing them when I visit in coming months (probably when it warms up a bit).

Also looking forward to seeing two of my favorite mammals, malayan tapir and babirusa.

Agreed, they are amazing! It really is a shame only the two zoos in the US have them on exhibit. Also, they’re currently having a bit of a heat wave- it’s a balmy 65 degrees F as I type this (though I’m in Charleston, having visited the South Carolina Aquarium this morning). I saw all of the outdoor animals on exhibit yesterday, except for one tortoise- the others were let on exhibit as it began to warm up and I suspect the one I didn’t see was as well.
