There is also a picture of a pair of the giant flying squirrels on the RSCC facebook page, as well as news on the return of pottos to the collection following temporary transfer to Bioparc Valencia.

Just looked at the facebook page, they also mention the arrival of a male golden cat from Auckland Zoo and the departure of their pair of malayan tapirs to Prague.

Now they are going to renovate the Tapir exhibit "to hold a larger cousin of our smooth-coated otters"... Which could only mean one species i guess? Unless they are looking at the whole Mustelid family?

1:1 Potto have recently returned from loan to Biopark Valencia (they have gone out of the species) along with an unrelated male who was confiscated from a tourist who tried to bring him home as a souviner from Africa!

RSCC sent both it`s Sun Bears to Colchester,so they currently have none and as far as i`m aware they have no plans to bring in anymore.

Has the Sun bear from the RSCC moved to Colchester and if so is there still bears at the RSCC???

The sun bears are a great addition to Colchester. They show very well. Very active and very inquisitive both times I've seen them.

very good link there johnstoni. Some of the black-footed cat photos were particularly nice I thought.

Belated thanks, johnstoni.

It would be nice to see a similar quality collection of smaller carnivores assembled again in the UK. On an allied subject, does anyone know anything about the planned Malagasy collection near Bath?

Very nice photos, Johnstoni. What is the current status with RSCC and the collection? I know that Colchester and Exmoor ended up with some of their stock, but is Todd keeping a private collection of small carnivores, or are they all due to disperse? Is he staying at the Sandwich site?

I would be very interested to know if the site is still run by the trust (RSCT?) set up by the RSCC when it was open.

I would be surprised if it didn't remain as a facility for importing and quarantining unusual stock, as (a) this was being done for other collections while the RSCC was open, and (b) many species that came to the RSCC spent so little time there I wonder if part of the aim was to bring species into the zoo population rather than to hold them at the RSCC itself.

I came across this while I was looking around on the internet. It seems the place has been continuing to run as a private centre, and has been working on importing some species.

Zoo Jobs: CARNIVORE & PROSIMIAN KEEPER VACANCY

I'm particularly interested in the following sentence:
"We are home to a diverse collection ranging from Aardwolf to Rusty Spotted Cat and Banded Civet to Tarsier."

It's the latter two which interest me most!
