And the wailing of zoo enthusiasts rang out in the wilderness, crying: "Open thy gates, O Todd, that we may feast our eyes upon thy tarsiers! Let the Banded Palm Civets receive our worship! For we hunger and thirst in the (cultural) desert, whilst thy doors are closed unto us!"
So what's the news re tarsiers anyone?
The RSCC facebook page has - in quite a surprise move - confirmed they currently hold 4.3 tarsiers.
It is only open on a couple of days a year. However as far as I am aware it plans to re-open it's doors in the future.
Excellent newsalways good to have a population boost for rusty cats. Just hope this filters out into other collections.
If they do hopefully spread out then I'm hoping they make it to some more centrally located collections if you catch my drift...![]()
Quite; of the 4 collections holding them in the UK, only Port Lympne has them onshow in a fully public situation. Hamerton has them offshow, RSCC is a private collection, and WHF is open only for specially booked sessions.
- If you look on there facebook page you can see photos of the construction.I'll believe it when it happensas they have changed their mind about open days in the past. Still good news though.
