Which source groups: Tacoma Point Defiance, Nashville, Washington NZP/Front Royal …?

Good to have some new bloodlines in!!!

Judging by a comment left on the RSCC page, the 2,2 cloudies came from Nashville.

Probably almost as many Clouded Leopards pairs as Aspinall`s now ?? Or maybe more ??

Those parks have over 20 animals between them. There are at least 4 enclosures at Howletts although I don't know how many of them hold pairs.

Yeah, so RSCC would be the second largest UK holder of Cloudies now then ??

Yes I believe 2 new pairs arrived at RSCC. One on show, one off-show. The North chinese leopard has moved and now is occupied by one of the new c leopard pairs. The 2 cheetah have moved away as well, in order to accommodate some of the maned wolf cubs. Also the new bearcat cub (Pop) I believe is going to be moved in with Colonel shortly.

In answer to a question on Facebook as to how many spotted cuscus they have and what sexes: "Ahh now that would be telling! But we have a viable group"

I always wonder at the bizarre secrecy zoos often indulge in around perfectly harmless information. Some information needing or being preferred to keep quiet I can understand. But how many individuals they have?... ooh top secret! Come on.

This has always made me extremely annoyed… RSCC is more in the private breeding sector than anything else and there lingo and obscurity shows it too. When I was looking for other breeders of lygodactylus williamsi, I could never get a straight up answer about how many people had and the % of males to females… it made me so angry! :confused:I think the biggest reason why some individuals keep the smallest details secret is because they don't know if the animal will survive or not. I guess they see it as better to not let anyone know your mistakes than to share that sensitive species have died on you. At least that's how I see it with most endangered reptiles.

Zoos also do it, I can think of two U.K. collections that have held animals for a long time, but do not admit to having.

I did wonder if that was why the animal holdings section of ISIS was removed from public view. Some collections not wanting this information shown so publicly. That and the bother of regularly updating and maintaining such a site for a non-professional audience. I know you can still contact them and ask for details for a few species at a time- but that is more in the nature of a private request.

Rule of thumb; By and large, Zoos and secrecy go hand in hand, always have, always will do. I hasten to add there have always been some refreshing exceptions to this.

Baby fanaloka, sex unknown at the moment

In other news, the older cloudy female could be pregnant and the sun bears have been mating all work. Fingers crossed for both!

Building work is coming along nicely. The nocturnal house should be ready when they reopen in spring, after their winter break.

Another tease ! Their Facebook page shows crates of unidentified new arrivals from Borneo being unloaded from a plane .

They denied my guess of sun bear but then liked my guess of False Gharial, saying they would reveal all on Monday

They then started liking all suggestions :p presumably to keep people guessing!

Having looked at the post, I think that False Gharial might be the most likely answer because that is the only comment they didn't completely dismiss. Also the size of the box looks like a box that could hold a False Gharial
