A brief piece of news from the Facebook page-
- The narrow-striped mongoose and lesser grison will not be on show during the April opening time, in case anyone is making plans. Both will be on show by the summer.

Rare Species Conservation Centre
Rscc has recently recieved Schlotti a young female Malayan Sun Bear from Cologne Zoo in Germany, she is a shy bear and currently can be seen acclimatising to her indoor den, she will start venturing outside in a few weeks! A young male will be arriving in the next month to keep her company.

The young male will be from Singapore Zoo, a 1-year old to be exact.
In exchange, Singapore will get a pair of Jaguarundis and a Fishing Cat.

Great news, that - am I right in thinking rusty-spotted cats aren't very good breeders in captivity?
They breed quite easy, Frankfurt en Rotterdam breed very well with this species.

Indera the male Sun Bear from Singapore Zoo has arrived.
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but according to the Centre's Facebook page, they are trying to initiate captive breeding programmes with not only the narrow-striped and ring-tailed mongooses but also the fanaloka Fossa fossana. From what I can gather from the page, some may have already arrived but are in quarantine and awaiting future display.

I asked earlier on in the year, they were in Quarantine at the time, and should be on show later this year.
No. There is 1 specimen known to be held at a small private zoo in Texas, and rumours that others are held by private keepers in the USA, but none in European zoos.

If they do please for goodness sake take those confiscated fossas not allowed out in the wild and now functionally extinct ... into the European breeding programme tooooo....
