Marine Life Park S.E.A. Aquarium species list (2024)

I've tried to make a species list of the renovated aquarium, solely with information I was able to find online. I probably won't be able to finish it, but here is a start at least.

Let me know if you have any additions or corrections! I surely missed a few species :)
I will try to add more sections, but since there are a lot of tanks with a whole bunch of species, this might not be easy

Do you have photos of the freshwater species that you need ID help with? Interesting choice with M. sexlineata, it's not a species that's offered by their main vendor, and the one that I know that did import a few recently did not deal with them either.

@BucerosKeeper

No photos, this is mostly based on 4 walkthrough videos on youtube, a few of which also showed the signage.

Just watched a few videos, the freshwater Angelfish is neither of the species you've mentioned, but rather Pterophyllum altum. None of the videos let me take a good look at the tiny fish in the salamander tank, but they look like White Cloud Mountain Minnows (Tanichthys albonubes) to me.

None of the videos I could find showed a Lungfish exhibit, though, guess I really have to head down and see this place soon :)

One of the videos showed signage for the lungfish in the same tank as the rainbowfishes.

White cloud mountain minnow makes sense!

Next up is Open Ocean, but I might need a few days for that one.

The following is the combined list by @NATY and @Jorbe of species in the Open Ocean tank.

After watching a whole lot of video footage of this tank made after the renovation, I will be able to confirm some species are still there, which I will mark with a 'Yes'

There will also be species I wasn't able to confirm, which I will mark with a 'no', although that doesn't mean they're gone and I might have just missed them.

There are also a few animals that I wasn't able to ID. Stingrays are especially difficult, since there are many species in this tank and not all of them are easy to distuingish.
I uploaded some pictures to the ZooChat Animal Identifcation gallery if anyone is willing/able to help out with the identifications!

Open Ocean:

- Black-blotched fantail ray (Taeniurops meyeni) - Yes

Up next: Benthos and Artificial Reefs

For what it’s worth @ralph I have seen a sharpnose whipray (M. gerrardi) in person, so I may be able to help you ID that if you have any pics that match a description I can give you. They’re generally a very dark brown or gray with a diamond-ish disc shape, a fairly pointy snout (hence the “sharpie” common name) and white or cream colored spots all over the disc. OdySea Aquarium had one when I visited in 2022, that had previously lived at Sea Life Arizona when I visited them in 2018 (and was nicknamed, you guessed it, “Sharpie” lol). Here’s a photo: If you find any such ray in your photos and post it here on ZC as media, feel free to tag me in the comments if you want a positive ID.

@Local_Shark I don't think I spotted any rays matching that discription on any of the footage, but I will keep my out for it when I visit the aquarium next month.

Your photo will be a much better reference pic than the ones I found online. If I get good views of it, I think I should be able to recognize this species.

I do however think I spotted a Broad cowtail stingray (Pastinachus ater) on one of the videos, so I uploaded a photo to the gallery.

That's it!

A somewhat up-to-date species list of the Sentosa Oceanarium, broken down by section! (Credits to @NATY and @Jorbe for providing their versions!)
I will hopefully be able to make further adjustments/improvements to this list when I will personally visit next month!!

I've tried to make a species list of the renovated aquarium, solely with information I was able to find online. I probably won't be able to finish it, but here is a start at least.
( I will visit the aquarium in november, and will try my best to gather more information!)

Let me know if you have any additions or corrections! I surely missed a few species :)
I will try to add more sections, but since there are a lot of tanks with a whole bunch of species, this might not be easy

I remember there is a cleaner warsse and some azure damselfish in the horseshoe crab tank
. The angelfish is a Bi-Colour Angelfish. There was a tank in Conquering Land where the fish look like Gold White Cloud Minnows, it was also stated there will be an upcomming resident in there(Maybe the Salamender). The Trunk Snake tank also houses a kind of platy as well as a Midas chilid

Species Update as of 10 November. The first tank in ancient water offshowed the Epaulette Shark with some kind of ray and there are thornback cowfish in the horseshoe crab habitat. The Conquering Lands Japanese Salamender is very 'shy' and usually hides in a hidden corner of the tank. The Elephant Trunk Snake Tank is now a blackwater tank with much difficuly spotting it's residents. And the final exhibit of Conquering Lands only has the Golden Poison Frog without the Blue Legged Mantellas. I got a sweet enterance into the Aquarist Lab and they have alot of juviniles.

Aquarist Lab

All residents from the Ocean Wonders habitat

Dwarf Lion Manes

Brown Banded Moon Jelly

Snowflake Morrays

Skunk Clownfish

Black Ocellaris Clownfish

Spotted Seahorse

Long snouted Seahorse

Banded Pipefish

Banggai Cardinalfish

Foxface RabbitFish

Epaulette Sharks

They also is a mysterious fish in open oceans that I will post the photo for.

In The Abyss, I am sad to announce that the salmon snailfish has supposedly been 'offshowed' and replaced with a Hilgendorf Saucord.

It's a Rainbow Runner (Elagatis bipinnulata) in case you wanna know what the mystery fish is

The giant salamander is actually a Japanese x Chinese hybrid.

I was bummed to miss out on the snailfish. Perhaps it died?
