Safari Wilderness Safari Wilderness Review and News Thread

Serval and leopard kittens are at the facility now:
Safari Wilderness on Instagram: "The best part of my job…. Is raising all the baby kitties!!!! Servals and Leopards Oh My!!!! I have the best job in the world!!! Come visit Safari Wilderness!! It is where Wild Animals get to live their best life and live truly WILD!"

I messaged them for more info on the leopards but have not heard back yet.

*Edit*
They are clouded leopards. They have a pair and will be attempting to breed them eventually.

Hmm very weird
To be fair, the Facebook post didn't say they were new:
"“Tigger the Great” Our 6 month old Clouded Leopard kitten…he’s such a lover❤️ Come see Tigger, his future mate “Lesley Kitty Puss Chuffers” our Serval pride and our spoiled Cheetah here at Safari Wilderness!"

It's more an advertisement to see all their cats.

Nah I should have picked up on that.

I'm looking for this facility on the Department of Agriculture Inspection Report records and can't find it. I have found a place that is even on the same road as the address given on Google, but that species list doesn't match at all. Does anyone know why?

There is only one place like this in that area, so if it is on the same road then it likely is the same facility. What does the species list look like?

Interesting, no, that is definitely a different place that does appear to be down the street - I had no idea it existed. I am not sure what is going on, but you are right, I don't see it on the USDA either.

OK, I figured it out. Both Safari Wilderness and Giraffe Ranch are owned by Lex/Charles Salisbury and are listed on the USDA under Safari Wild Site 1 and Site 2. Site 1 is Safari Wilderness, Site 2 is Giraffe Ranch.

Here is the list for Safari Wilderness/Safari Wild Site 1:

000004 Leptailurus serval SERVAL

If you look, all of the taxa listed on the report are only listed to species level not subspecies level (minus the domestic pig). Given that the Cape and forest buffalos are widely regarded as separate subspecies of the same species, it is very likely that the listing is accurately reporting the forest buffalo (and not a switch to Capes) but only to species level.
