Safaripark Beekse Bergen Safaripark Beekse Bergen

Just seen an interesting little bit of wildlife news from Beekse Bergen - a white stork, hatched at Cotswold Wildlife Park and released at the Knepp Estate in England in 2019 has crossed the channel and paired up with a female stork on the grounds of the Beekse Bergen Safari Park.

Information comes from the White Stork Project Facebook page.

Two cheetah cubs were born on the 11th of feb.

Edit: Daria who arrived from France 4 months ago in BB got 3 cubs but unfortunately, one died.

The two cheetah cubs have recently gone outdoors for the first time.

Sad to hear, but part of natural chimp behaviour, unfortunately.

Does anyone know if Wouter is originally from Burgers Zoo? I remember a Wouter featuring in Frans de Waal's research books.

No, this Wouter came from the TNO Research Institute. According to the studbook, Burgers' Zoo also had a Wouter. He was born there in 1974 and moved away in 1986.

According to a post and photos in a Facebook group about Safaripark Beekse Bergen, a new Amur tiger female has recently arrived. It is 3-year-old Malinka from Zoo Duisburg. The tigers Yarko and Angara are also said to be still present but, as mentioned earlier, they will soon move to the new enclosure at Dierenrijk.

Does anyone know, if you do the foot safari, what animals do you loose out on? Or are you able to still see them all somehow?
(can't seem to find a map on the website that shows the route, only the lands)

We drive a motorbike, so we can't do the actual safari

Or are there "destructive" monkeys? Lol. If not, I might be able to convince my dad or sister-in-law to use the car.

Several hoofstock species are only visible from the actual safari (addax, forest buffalo, banteng, Przewalski's wild horses, dromedaries etc.). There is an option of taking a safari bus for those who aren't able to do the drive themselves, but it only runs from October to March...so you might want to look into the car option. If you look on the map available on the website https://d33b12c77av9bg.cloudfront.net/originals/safaripark_beekse_bergen_plattegrond_2024_nl.pdf you can see for yourself what you might miss. The orange route is the drivethrough safari.

The map of Beekse Bergen can be found here: Plattegrond | Ontdek het Safaripark | Beekse Bergen

On this, you can also roughly see which animal species you would miss. Some can also be seen from the walking safari (sometimes a bit further away), and with the boat safari you might be able to see some as well. But not all of them. There are no monkeys on the car safari route.

Thanks both! Somehow I missed that map

I did see the bus safari, but we'll be in Belgium next month, so we won't be able to use that.
The boat seems to cover quite a lot you can't see by foot, so I think we're good to go :D
