New species for the zoo: Sun Conures
They recently arrived and will be on exhibit when the zoo reopens. Their names are Paczki, Crumpet, Flapjack, Waffle, Croissant, Challah, Tortilla, Strudel, Danish, Pumpernickel, Ciabatta, Biscuit and Brioche.

1.0 Blue and Gold Macaw dies:
Samson died on May 19th and nobody knew his real age because when he arrived to the zoo he was already 30 years old. His mate Bertha, passed away 5 years ago, on April 28th, 2015.

San Clemente Island goats and Black Welsh Mountain sheep arrive:
They arrived on April 28th, the goats are named Troy, Verona, Elmira, Savannah, Seneca and Ithica. The sheep is named Aurora.

0.1 Black Crow dies:
Edgar was one of the oldest crows in captivity on records in North America. She hatched on May 1994 and died on April 14th. She was 25 years old and she ended up at the zoo because when she was a chick, somebody took her and raised her as a pet. As a result, US Fish and Wildlife Service confiscated her and she ended on Saginaw Children's Zoo.

0.1 Two-Toed Sloth arrives:
She is named Okra Mae and came from Zoo Atlanta on February 19th. She will live on the tropical building along the cotton-top tamarins.

1.0 Jersey Steer dies:
Prescott was born in a farm in Prescott, Michigan on 2017. When he was born, the farmers noticed he had Scoliosis and Kyphosis. On January 18th, he was sadly euthanized due to deteriorating mobility issues.

On April 14th, the zoo announced that they have acquired (0.2) llamas named Bandana and Charlie.

On May 14th, the zoo announced that they have acquired a (0.1) miniature pig (Juliana pig) named Charlotte.

On June 2nd, the zoo announced that (0.0.16) black-tailed prairie dogs have been born.

On July 29th, the zoo announced that they have acquired (0.1.1) Tunis sheep named Quiet and Dolly. The zoo also announced they have (4.7) masked bobwhite quails (I am unsure how many they had before July 29th).

On August 11th, the zoo announced that they have acquired a (1.0) blue-faced honeyeater named Louis.

On October 8th, the zoo announced that they have acquired a (1.0) Virginia opossum named Eddie from Howell Nature Center in Michigan.

On October 3rd, the zoo announced that they were donated 2 bear sculptures (1 brown and 1 polar) which are now viewable.

On August 2nd, the zoo announced that (0.0.4) sun conures named Churro, Pancake, Rye, and Toast hatched in 2022 which are now on exhibit in the aviary.

On April 17th, the zoo announced they opened a new area called 'Gobble & Quack: The Fowl Shack', which houses the facility's domestic chickens, domestic ducks, and domestic turkey.

The zoo is holding a contest to name the pair of chicks one of the four following pairs of names:
  • Eggs Benedict (Benny) and Quiche (Kyle)
  • Flip and Flop
  • Damien and Scramble
  • Omelet and Hamlet

On March 21st, the zoo announced they named the penguins Eggs Benedict and Quiche.

On April 17th, the zoo announced they acquired a male (1.0) Hoffmann's two-toed sloth named Elton, which is on exhibit. The zoo also announced they started construction on a new indoor building called 'Wild in Nature' for their reptiles, birds, and invertebrates.
