I'm not sure what range overlap has to do with it? The article specifically mentions SSP, and there is no bobcat SSP. Bobcats are very well known here, they're the most common felid in zoos/nature centers/etc in the USA, outnumbering Canada lynx by over 200 institutions. The terms aren't used interchangeably by people who would be giving the news to the media, like they wouldn't say they were getting a species of mongoose when they meant meerkat.
Please re-read: my response was to Coelacanth that never heard the term lynx in relation to bobcat. I merely wanted to underline both are within the Lynx family, no more no less, so not so complicated and not bearing any direct relation to the Salisbury Zoo news item about bringing to (Canadian) lynx to the zoo.

Thanks for the clarification @Kifaru Bwana. They are indeed both lynxes; as @TinoPup said, I was conveying that in the States "lynx" is a term reserved for Canada lynx and "bobcat" is always what Lynx rufus is called, at least in my experience. I wasn't sure if that was also the case in Europe, and thus might have caused the confusion about what species they were referring to.

Salisbury Zoo announces the birth of Andean bear cubs, born 1/16/2022. These cubs represent the third litter for their female "Chaska," her second with their male, "Pinocchio" (who, significantly, is wild-born). It is her first successful litter of twins.
