When I went a few weeks ago, the exhibit that it is currently in was pretty much barren, with a sign for nene but none to be found, and a few cranes (I recall African crowned of some sort). It also had whistling ducks mixed in, which I assume are wild. It's nice to see something done with that exhibit, but I think the San Antonio zoo should do a complete renovation similar to the Fort Worth zoo is now.A bald eagle has come from the Santa Barbara Zoo and is now on exhibit. It was originally rescued in 1998. Based on the video in the link, it's in an exhibit that was formerly home to storks, cranes, and ducks (obviously is now refurbished).
American Bald Eagle that was shot, rescued now at San Antonio Zoo
How sad, my condolences go out to his keepers. Wish he could have lived to be 43. Hopefully Uma gets a friend. The hippos have been one of my favorite parts of the zoo, it will be weird seeing only Uma. R.I.P. TumboMale hippo Tumbo was euthanized after an illness.
