San Antonio Zoo San Antonio Zoo News 2019

So the head of a zoo with a single elephant (in violation of AZA standards) in arguably the worst elephant exhibit of an accredited zoo is named head of the International Elephant Foundation?

They adopted two old females from Ringling to keep Lucky company last year; meaning that they’re not in violation of AZA standards socialbility wise as they have the necessary three animals:San Antonio Zoo adopts two elephants

Thanks for update - I was not aware of that. (Though sticking three elephants in that small exhibit is not necessarily an improvement IMO).

Given their investment in elderly elephant care and husbandry + housing improvement I would concur it is a just choice. A stark reminder why and how the PETA / anti zoo elephant cohort are plain wrong on facts and content. Now the San Antonio Zoo CEO has what it takes to take on and move forward the full complement of important duties and tasks accompanying the great work the International Elephant Foundation requires. It will both benefit in situ and ex situ care of (captive) elephants and enable much needed conservation work with wild and non-captive elephant stocks.

The article does not say, perhaps they were already at the zoo in temporary living quarters while their exhibit was worked on?

Based on Tim's twitter doesn't look like they were there previously. Several tweets like new friends, etc.

What else will be in the Wild Australia exhibit?

For the love of all that is holy and sacred, READ THE LINK IN THE POST. All you're doing is bumping topics unnecessarily, momentarily fooling those who think there's a new development at any zoo. All you're doing is spamming. It's literally just clicking the link and READING. I don't wish to be aggressive in the slightest, but I've honestly been getting more and more annoyed. Thank you for understanding.

I recognize this isn't an isolated incident, but to be fair, the article doesn't actually mention anything but koalas.

Kiddie Park, a historic mini amusement park for children, is moving from its current San Antonio location to the zoo. The zoo will take over management and share proceeds with the current owners for ten years, after which the zoo will keep all proceeds. It will be located outside the gates of the current zoo and zoo admission will not be required.
