Visited the zoo again after a few weeks and noticed quite a bit of new stuff!
First, there's updated signage throughout the zoo, replacing a bunch of outdated or missing signage. The butterfly house is almost finished! The building itself looks to be complete, and plants are being added inside, can't wait for it to open next year!
There's also some new stuff being added in the aquarium and the outdoor bird enclosures. In the aquarium, the two tanks immediately to the right of the entrance have been emptied, and from a quick peek it looks like they are turning it into one large tank, similar to the one opposite containing their bamboo sharks and other reef fish. Several of the outdoor bird enclosures are also being worked on, and some species have been moved into nearby enclosures in anticipation of some new arrivals.
Speaking of which, there are quite a few species on display that have either returned after a long absence, or are entirely new!
In the large Amazonian aviary:
Boat-billed heron (Cochlearius cochlearius)
Chestnut teal (Anas castanea)
In Amphibia:
Coronated tree frog (Triprion spinosus)
In the Reptile House:
Texas rat snake (Pantherophis obsoletus lindheimeri)
Eastern black-tailed rattlesnake (Crotalus molossus)
Trans-Pecos ratsnake (Bogertophis subocularis)
