San Diego Zoo and Safari Park Tips

As I will be visiting San Diego Zoo and Safari Park in a few days for the first time in 10 years or so, I was wondering if you all had any tips or ideas on a few things in the zoo. I can't wait for the trip, but which areas would you advise seeing if you can't cover the zoo in a full day? It's changed alot since I last went, and I was wondering if you all had any input. Also, any tips on seeing the rarer species (Platypus, Tasmanian Devil, etc)? Help would be appreciated, and I can't wait to show you all what I do end up seeing! Thanks!
