Hi, I don't know if anyone has a photo of the panda trek construction, but, if someone has it, could you please post it?
I would really want to know how the construction goes.
Thanks.
I visited the zoo yesterday evening and just uploaded some photos of the panda trek construction from Bashor Bridge. It looks like they have added all new fencing around the former takin exhibit and have planted trees in the exhibit since the last photos on the feed from early April.

I don't now if anyone has information of when the pandas are arriving. The zoo said it would be late summer. Would it be at the end of august or in the start of september?

This is all we have been told thus far;

The date of Yun Chuan and Xin Bao’s exact arrival in San Diego is not yet known, as San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is working through the necessary steps with its U.S. and Chinese conservation partners, looking forward to a prospective arrival this summer.

The zoo has announced the birth of a litter of at least 3 capybara pups on social media. Mother is Rosalina.

Additionally, Rosalina's first litter will be leaving the zoo at an undisclosed time.
I would assume it is the same as the capybara pups born on April 12th, which @Kudu21 reported on the 14th.
A litter of three capybara pups was born on April 12th. They are now on exhibit in Elephant Odyssey with their parents, their siblings from last year’s litter, and the Baird’s tapir pair.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, But on the zoo's updated map, there appears to be an Otter (Presumably Asian Small-Clawed) icon in Tiger River, close to where the old Fishing Cat exhibit is. I don't remember the zoo ever having Otters in this area (They defiantly weren't there last time I visited in 2019), so I'm Assuming this is a new development. Could this be what the construction around the old python/aviary exhibits was for, or are these otters taking up residence in the old Fishing Cat exhibit?

There’s a single male spot-necked otter in the old fishing cat exhibit currently.

I am at the zoo now, and the right exhibit is signed for parma wallaby and the left exhibit is signed for brush-tailed bettong.
Do you have pictures of the panda habitat construction, and if not, could you give me a description of how things are going?
Thanks.

More updates from today's visit!

Wildlife Explorers Basecamp:
  • The area the former horseshoe crab display was in on the upper level of Spineless Marvels is now home to an assortment of invertebrate propagation tanks.
Lost Forest:
  • The aviary next to the Scripps Aviary and across from the gorillas is now closed for renovations.
  • The former herp/bird display between the tapirs and tigers definitely appears to be being repurposed into an aviary. The meshing has been completed, and they are in the process of planting a perching the exhibit.
Northern Frontier:
  • The female bontebok yard and the maned wolf yard along the row of old Horn and Hoof Mesa yards are both currently empty with "Wildlife Temporarily Off Display" signs. I did see work being done in the maned wolf yard.
Urban Jungle:
  • The middle connected pair of cages in the roundabout of cages (where the laughing kookaburra and binturong are) is now home to one of the red pandas displaced by the Panda Canyon construction.

Not much has changed since my last update/@GoldenTakin's photos. It appears they have cleared out more of the space between the old panda yards and the old takin exhibit, some new rockwork has gone in in the front of the old takin exhibit, and the new fencing around the old takin exhibit is still going up.

Thank You for the updates @Kudu21 I just uploaded some photos on the feed of the Panda construction from Skyfari on 5/8/24.
