Hello, everyone! I'm new to zoochat, though I've been lurking for a while.

I will be visiting the San Diego Zoo for the first time ever on Friday, and I was wondering if anyone knew if they have a quoll(s) there. According to the Zoo Institutes, SDZ has a tiger quoll, as well as a drill. Is this information correct and, if so, where in the park can I find these specimens! I can't find information on either animal on the zoo's website.

Thanks!

They have mandrills, but not drills. If they have a tiger quoll, it is not on exhibit. They did have one several years ago, which may be what you are seeing reference to.

They do have pangolins. You can see them in the children's zoo at their 1:30 PM animal talk (check time when you go to make sure that is still current).

I hope that you enjoy the San Diego Zoo.

Thanks for the replies. I actually am very much looking forward to the pangolin animal talk!

As for quolls, I too thought they may have brought in new ones for the Australian exhibit. I know they have a sculpture on their marsupial rock wall thing. It's a shame the one at Colombus zoo was put to sleep, recently.

I was also under the impression the zoo had one drill. According toThe Drill Project they have/had one. However, this was last updated in 2012.

They have a large primate area off-exhibit, so it's possible that they have a drill back there, but I have been visiting San Diego regularly for 15 years and they haven't had a drill exhibit in that time that I can remember. There were some at the LA Zoo about 10 years ago.

ISIS doesn't show Dasyurus maculatus in SD anymore, while one drill (female) is still at the list.

SDZ had Drill before Monkey Trails opened. They have an off exhibit primate area behind EO near their horticulture propagation area.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I went on Friday and indeed there were no quolls. Also, the drill, if still there, was most likely kept off exhibit. Otherwise, I really did enjoy the zoo!
