San Diego Zoo San Diego Zoo Species List 7/29/22

The former wombat enclosures had Tasmanian devils in them when I was there in July 2023. The sloth enclosure is still in Elephant Odyssey, but it had no sloths, only a sign for dikdik in July 2023. I don't know if the zoo currently has ocelots. There are no exhibits for them that I can recall seeing any time in the recent past, although they are constantly moving animals around, so possibly they were somewhere.

Please could you list the mammals you saw? I am due to visit in October from the U.K. and would really appreciate an updated list of this taxa held at the zoo.
I would really appreciate it and wish the zoo website coukd just list all their species.

I went there in June and didn’t see any enclosure for ocelots, sloths, or wombats? Do they still have them?

The wombat enclosure is close to the Tasmanian devils, on the same path and on the same side.

The mammal list hasn't changed much from what I can tell. The ratel, fishing cat, and pronghorn are gone which are probably the most noteworthy departures. The duiker/okapi and hippo exhibits have also been under construction, not sure how long that will remain the case.

Also note that the mammals in the "Rainforest" exhibits are rotating I believe - so don't expect to see all of them on your visit (and in fact when I visited last month 1 of the 3 enclosures had another coati, rather than something from this list).

Thank you very much for that.

are the mammal Rainforest exhibits easy to find amongst the Base camp please?

I didn't have trouble finding them my first time.
If you look at the PDF map on the zoo's website, they are the "Wildlife Ambassadors" exhibits in Basecamp.

That’s great, thank you. I have just had another look and just realised the faint outlines of their enclosures. It was the Caracal that I would be making a beeline for specifically,

if anyone has any advise for visiting I would really appreciate it. This will be a first time visit!
