San Salvador Rock Iguana's

12 San Salvador Rock Iguana's are now in the care of vets after being seized at Heathrow this week following a failed smuggling attempt

BBC News - San Salvador rock iguanas in socks seized at Heathrow

This may be a godsend (in devil's disguise), despite it being an illegal bust and thus a serious matter. Illegal wildlife trade to my mind always IS! Remains to be seen who the damn traders and shadowy figures behind this illegal shipment are.

I hope that the Customs see sense and hand them over to some of the more experienced zoos within the UK. It would enable us to start a proper ex situ conservation breeding program with a chance of having an opportunity to contribute to head starting and other conservation activities in situ.

Thanks for sharing this story and I also hope they will be find a suiteble home which can start a breeding programm - Jersey was my first though seen their experience with Rock Iguana's.
