Another zoo?

Doubt it, SWP is the third zoo to have been unsuccessful on that site. With Wingham up the road, who wouldn’t be affiliated with the prospective new owners, and Wildwood and the Aspinall parks all within driving distance of the site it would take someone with a very unique business model to succeed given the size of the place....although they do say to start a zoo you have to be a little crazy...

It will be a shame to see the site go to waste - there are lots of what seem to be exhibits of good build quality, from both the original and newer owners.

Is the land likely to be developed for housing? WWP could find themselves in Bristol's position.

Wonder what will happen on the site now, especially seeing what was on there before, quite a history of zoos shutting down and being taken over by someone else..
Another zoo?

I dont remember it being that close to existing housing, but it is certainly a 'brown-field' site and part had been used as a garden-centre. In Wingham's place, I would certainly put a legal covenant on it, forbidding its future zoo use, before selling it. Tesco's use this system to buy up potential supermarket sites near theirs, forever ruling out any retail use, to eliminate competition. Covenants stay on in perpetuity.

does any one have an update on animals moveing to ther zoos . i believe the lamas have gone but dont know to where. cheers

has there been any updates with regards to movement of animals. nothing on here since march. the tigers being of special intrest

The cheetah went to wingham and so is the leopard once the enclosure is available (current clouded leopards) im guessing the tigers are still there. The reptiles are moving to wingham aswell.

Lemurs, squirrel monkeys and wallaby were rehomed to Battersea Park

I'd have thought that Battersea, like little Hanwell for instance, only has limited capacity within the boundary to take in more animals, unless theres a revamp of the current enclosures,or animals a re going out.?

Battersea has changed a lot over the last few years - however, they already held the species they've rehomed from sandwich so they aren’t necessarily new additions.

Any news on the animals that were still there. Been no updates for ages. Tigers etc

I believe from when I was last at the park they plan to build a enclosure at wingham for the sandwich tigers
