Savannah Cat

I remember seeing a savannah cat in Exmoor zoo back in 2015, I think that must have been an exotic pet donation.
It would be strange if they hybridised their own serval with a domestic cat. It wasn't an "open" exhibit either, so I don't think a moggie could sneak in too easily.

They did have a serval but it was housed separately, then again, I don't think servals are social anyway.

Was that Exmoor Zoo or could it have been Porfell? I don’t remember a Savannah at Exmoor and tbh I doubt they’d have given it house room. Porfell on the other hand had two around that time

Definitely exmoor zoo.
I have photos of them. There was only the one housed in its own section.

Sadly I've never been to Porfell zoo.

I’ve messaged the owner, who confirms they’ve never has Savannahs, but had Servals at the time

Image keeps breaking for some reason, but link still works.
Update- got photo not broken.

it must not have been in 2015 then.
I only thought so as my image file says that date. But it might be wrong.

But was definitely the exmoor zoo

couldn't find rest of photos sadly.

Here's a screenshot of photo details on phone.
Might be a problem with phone's date

I wish I could find the other photos, poor bugger is sleeping here.
They better not be lost like some of my photos from old laptop.

The other zoos I went to during roughly that time were
Whipsnade, Woburn safari park, Colchester zoo, cotswold wildlife park, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park (devon), and birdworld.

Could it have been one if them if definitely not Exmoor zoo?

I would like to note that I also have this picture posted on my tumblr (roseate-felidae).
But didn't know how to attach a link from that image so reuploaded it to imgur.

Hopefully imgur is an allowed image share site here.
Let me know if not and what alternative I should use please.

Judging by the background and regular visits to the collection in terms of what they hold I'd say not Whipsnade.

I'd venture an opinion that Combe Martin or Birdworld might be more likely to have an F1 cat than any of the others listed there but someone will know more than me.

I've only seen an F1 at Ark in terms of collections with rescue F1s and any held would usually be confiscated after being held without a license. I doubt any reputable zoo would breed one and I can’t imagine most mainstream collections taking one. Happy to be corrected but I can’t see how any licensed zoo in the U.K. would actively breed a serval with a domestic cat.

100% agree with no reputable zoo actively breeding the cat. I definitely think it was a cat given up to the zoo.

I dont know if it's f1 either, but it has quite a few serval looking traits so it's not f4 onwards imo.

I know I havent visited Ark before, really do want to go there.

There's potential the cat is prior to 2015 and my phone is registering it weirdly. But I really don't know. It would definitely be close to that date though.

If it helps at all, my Black panther from Exmoor is dated 2013. Some photos from Combe Martin are 2013 too.
I think we went to the two zoos same week as I was holidaying In Devon.
One of my birdworld photos is listing 2015, but for some reason it being at birdworld doesn't ring a bell.
I know it is not later than 2015 as my camera was showing 2016 date mark on photos as an accident that took me a while to turn off on my camera. So still 2013-2015 is most plausible.

So my guess is around the 2013-2015 mark in Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur park or Exmoor zoo.

Looked at my external hardrive today,

The photo is a folder of mine on Cornwall. Not devon.
So it's definitely a cornish zoo.
So it can't be exmoor or dartmoor or Combe martin.

I have double checked with Exmoor Zoo and they definitely have never had a Savannah Cat

I think I got mixed up a bit.

But now I'm trying to think of what zoos were in Cornwall.
I know there's newquay

Newquay most certainly didn’t have one. I worked there off and on for three years years around that period. Porfell is the only place I’ve ever seen Savannahs, and they rescued those (two females) around that time

I'm watching a video from the same folder of a coati display.
I'm seeing if I can spot the logo on the keepers shirt
After all my sleuthing, I think the zoo might be Porfell. Watching this video I have it shows a keeper with a logo that looks similar but I'm not certain.
I dont remember the name of the zoo but I'm only 25 and that was when I was 15. So might just be bad memory.
My step mum says we haven't been there, but it might be poor memory as the logo is definitely looking similar.

A video I watched from same place had a zoo keeper doing a coati display. Can you tell if that logo looks like porfell or another cornish zoo?

Beyond me I am afraid I have visited very few collections down there and never that one. Hopefully someone else will know the logo / zoo.
