sea gulls

hi thankyou iv not found anyone in the uk who keep gulls and its a real shame i do keep many fancy birds ie wildfowl ect but the gulls are far more entertaining than most of them , i realy hope one day they will breed , im still hoping i can get some greater black backed gulls as they are fantastic looking i have contacted many rescue centres i the hope of maybe some that cannot be put back in the wild ,

Leigh,

Fascinating thread!

Have kept Herring and Black-headed in the past, but only single birds.

There are a few keepers in Europe of different species - currently 4 cb Common Gulls being offered in Europe.

Kolibri

i went to Belgium today and purchased 8 common gulls 3 are adult very nice birds big thank you to kolibri for info , the search is still on for lesser and greater black backed im sure one day ill find some iv contacted many sea gull rescue centres and coastal vets in the hope , im also hoping to purchase some black headed gull later this year from a breeder in Belgium looks like i will have to build some more aviary's soon ,

In case you haven't already contacted them, Tiggywinkles wildlife hospital might be worth a try.

How many Lesser Blackbacks? I take it they didn't have any Greaters.
Any chance of seeing your collection if & when I happen to be in your area? [This should probably be a private message, but I haven't worked out how to do them...]

Leigh it has been wonderful hearing about your gulls. I was just wondering about two things. The first is would you be able to write up a current collection list of what you have, and secondly would you be able to get some photos of the birds and their aviaries?

That's really impressive -- great collection of perching ducks. Nice to see someone taking Egyptian Geese seriously as well.

thankyou i do like perching ducks and Egyptian geese are great they say they are aggressive mine are ok with muscovys and chickens, the hartlaubs are more aggressive i have to keep them on there own , im hoping to build some more aviarys this autumn for the gulls ,
