The core of the debate is whether we should focusing on regaining the old audience (animals) or attracting new visitors (rides).

That's rather opinion-based. As a zoochat member, I am of course biased towards animals, but I will say this: In Orlando and SoCal, SeaWorld has stiff competition from Universal and Disney, and in SoCal specifically they also have Six Flags and Knott's Berry Farm to contend with. They don't come close to Disney and Universal. Furthermore two of SeaWorld Orlando's major rides weren't even open for much of last year, and both came back with severely downgraded effects. They can't seem to be able to even maintain what rides they have, at least in Orlando. Animals are what sets SeaWorld parks apart from other theme parks, so I feel that should remain.... But I digress. I don't want to drag this too far off topic, but I'd be happy to debate elsewhere . :D

I have to agree with Shellheart. It's not so simple as focusing on regaining the old audiences - in the San Diego and Orlando markets (I'm not as familiar with the San Antonio market), Sea World made a choice a while back to increase its attendance in the crowded markets by adding rides. The strategy did appear to pay off for a while, but it appears that Sea World could not sustain the attendance it had. What many fail to consider is that the downturn in Sea World's numbers predated Blackfish, though that documentary did undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing problems Sea World has had. And now Sea World is caught in a cycle of cutbacks, especially in staffing, leading to the downtime and failing attractions shellheart pointed out, which does nothing to help the "newer" rides-focused audiences and leads to a continued lack of funding to improve the animal collection, thus failing to connect to the "older" animal-focused audience. I seriously doubt that a renewed focus on the zoological components of Sea World alone would allow the parks to thrive (or indeed survive), particularly as the entertainment options in the Florida and Southern California continue to grow. Besides, I haven't heard much about people who like the zoological part of Sea World no longer continuing to frequent the park - I would imagine that much of the loss comes from tourists who find the overall experience of Sea World no longer compelling in the face of competing parks and attractions.
 
Luna, a 20 year old female is pregnant at SeaWorld Texas. I have not seen an expected birth range yet. A very clear ultrasound was posted to the parks facebook page:

On January 26th, it was mentioned that the aquarium transferred (1.2) common bottlenose dolphins named Zip, Alice, and Haven to SeaWorld Abu Dhabi in Saudi Arabia.*

I'm trying to put together a holder of species list but am finding SeaWorld San Antonio to be a complete information void. The website says the app has a complete listing of animals. I downloaded the app. I cannot find any information that is not on the website. Am I using it wrong or is the website wrong about the app's capabilities?

I'm not sure about their website, but USDA inspections can be a good way to see what species are at a facility, though some may not be on public display. Here's their inspection report from November.

Unfortunately, I don’t think USDA checks for sharks.
