The media really played the trainer death, then all of a sudden, coverage stopped. Does any one have any usefull information regarding Tillikum or the trainer, or any procedure that SeaWorld has changed? I would like to find out more, but the media just forgot about the story.

I agree this story should have had a follow up, esp on the welfare of the Orca. I'm afraid I havn't been able to find out anything but there is this one good website that records all the orcas in captivity deaths.

Take a look I have found it usefull in the past.

I would guess that it is all in the hands of lawyers now.
And that means that for the time being, no one is talking
The media will sink their teeth into it again just as soon as some blood is detected

The media are still going on and thanks to poor Taima's death just weeks ago their back with damned O'Barry and Rector. SeaWorld are still not doing waterwork (which in my mind is ridiculous) but they are back to touching the animals (thank god). There are a lot of things changing not just for SeaWorld Orlando, but San Diego and San Antonio. It'll probably be about 8 months or so before Waterwork is attempted and I doubt it'll be at SW Orlando first. Either Texas or Cali.

Orcahome.de is a good source, but take it with a pinch of salt. There are a lot of errors on it and although the owner does try his best to be neutral, he is anti-captive. So the views are biased. I'm sure if a similar thing was done up for any big mammal in their first 40-50 years the numbers would be the same.

I think, they should make anyone who gets into the water with the whales, have short hair. I just watched the last video of the trainer who died earlier this year. Just looking at her hair, you can see how it could be mistaken for a fish when it gets wet. It would look exactly like the fish you can see her feeding him in the video.

At the end of the video you can see her in the water shallows just playing with him - I just want to scream at her "get out of the water silly woman!".

Here's the video in case anyone's wanting to watch the "Dine with Shamu" before the trainers death (no gory bits sorry!). Tourist's Camera Rolls Seconds Before Whale Attack - Video - WESH Orlando

They have. Dawn did so muhc for charity and she was growing her hair for wigs for kids with cancer. The Orca's have always seen the trainers hair and experienced it. They've also been in more risky positions than this with Tilikum a million times. What ever set Tilikum off then. They're not stupid, they know what is hair and what's fish. Tilikum knows too he's not an idiot.

Her hair wasn't mistaken for a fish, no one knows why he decided he was going to grab her hair. It could've been a simple "hm... wonder what that feels like" and would've let go, BUT he didn't know it was attached to her head. Then, she's trying to get free and he panics. As I said, her hair wasn't mistaken for a fish. What ever went through his head, only Tilikum will know.

And why are you sorry for no gory bits? lol! As much as I don't want to see any animal attacking any keeper/trainer etc and I don't want to see an Animal being attacked by a human. It would be a horiffic video which I hope NEVER reaches the public.

While I take your point, it would at least provide an unbiased record of what actually happened, so may be valuable from that point of view.

Maybe, but for Dawn's memory, her family, friends and co-workers it wouldn't be respectful. SW have seen it as have a couple of others. That's all who NEED to see it.
