Woburn Safari Park Sealions

I have not been to Woburn for a while but notice that the Sealions are leaving.

Can someone tell me the following:

When are they going ? (If not already gone)

Where are they going ?

Sorry have not been for a while so how many where there in the end ?

Also do you know the name of the place.

There were 5 lively young Califonian Sea Lions in the outdoor pool at Woburn SP today . A sign said that they have changed their filtration system to a natural one which accounted for the murky water . There did not appear to be any shows being put on inside at present .

I can't find the relevant thread, but didn't they publicise last year the intention to go out of Sealions? And so the previous ones went to Turkey?

Have they done an 'about turn' and changed that decision?

Yes I read this last night and was sure they had said they were going to move the penguins into the sealion enclosure when they went. Maybe they have had a change of heart?

The sea lions were moved in February to a dolphinarium in Turkey.

No they were not. We spoke to their keeper earlier today, it was hoped to move them to a salt water, ocean filled facility in Turkey but there are problems with paperwork and defra - hence why they are still there today.

There will be no further sealion shows, which seems a shame as they are still there and such a big attraction, my little ones love them.

So presumably Woburn will still go out of Sealions as they stated previously.

Yes, should have made that clear. The overall management plan is that Woburn will no longer have sealions. It's just a matter of time, where to send them and paperwork by the sounds of it.

I took the information off the website and the facility was confirmed on here. I haven't been to Woburn, so I didn't know if they had been moved or not.
