And another one! A new SeaQuest aquarium will open late next year in the Ridgmar Mall, Fort Worth: Ridgmar Mall Adding 27,000-Square-Foot Aquarium in 2017

SeaQuest recently opened its first aquarium (SeaQuest Utah) and the second debuts in a few days in Las Vegas (New Las Vegas Aquarium to Open November).

Wow! That puts the Dallas-Fort Worth area at an astounding five zoological facilities:
Dallas Zoo
Dallas World Aquarium
Children's Aquarium at Fair Park
Fort Worth Zoo
And the new SeaQuest Fort Worth.
Two more can be considered part of the area as well, each around an hour away:
Fossil Rim Wildlife Center
SeaLife Grapevine

That's a lot of aquatic facilities for one area, though it's true that three are rather small.

Actually, within an hour or less of the Dallas-Fort Worth area there will now be a whopping 15 zoos and aquariums. I've toured 13 of them, missing only the upcoming SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium (they are turning into the new SeaLife franchise!) and International Exotic Animal Sanctuary. @snowleopard: wow! I figured I had forgotten one or two (I've visited the Discovery Gardens) but that's a great amount more than I expected.
