Looks better than the previous design I guess, but would've loved to have seen them go with a more natural theme like San Diego. Looks far to unnatural for my liking.

It is certainly a big step up from before the renovation, but still not really natural. I heard that they were going for a in-between the San Diego stadium and the dolphin stadium in Orlando, I would say that is a pretty accurate description.

Yeah, I like San Diego better, but in the end it is really just design choices and opinions on that. I am not sure that the whales really have much of a quality of life difference.

I was told at Seaworld that babies still on milk have not yet been succesfully released, they're using foster mothers to try to get them to learn how to dolphin so maybe that will change at some point.

The only issue here is that this isn't a bottlenose. There are no other Risso's dolphins in captivity in the US. I believe the only current captive individuals are in Japan. Aside from this particular case though, it'd be interesting if at least some young cetaceans were able to be successfully released but this sounds like an uphill battle to me.

Rissos and bottlenose do sometimes form pods together and it’s strongly believed there’s been hybridisation so it might be a non issue, well, a non issue as much as trying to release a bottlenose this age is!
 
Visited the Orlando park 2 days this week.

Walrus Chou Chou from San Diego is now at Orlando.

The park is currently without belugas.

No evidence of any construction/updates to Wild Artic yet.

Both days, orca Katina was in med pool and did not participate in shows or Dine with Orcas with the other girls. Hopefully something to do with new set, and not anything medical.

Katina is currently experiencing some medical issues as she has extreme problems with change and all of the Orca Stadium renovations have made her very stressed. Currently she is under 24 hour watch but seems to be improving.
