can anyone tell me why for months now, you have only been able to see dolphins and sued orca on the 'shamu webcam' . i havant seen orca on the webcam for ages (even before the tillikum attack).

thanks.

The reason is the dolphins from the Dolphin show have been living in the "Shamu Up-Close" tank where the Shamu Cam is while their pool and show tanks were being renovated. It should be back to orcas now though...

Not yet, the stadium is still being built but will be open at the end of the month. Construction should be done in a week or two and then I think they will move all of the dolphins and the pilot whales and finally bring Scully the male pilot whale out for the public to see.

I wasn't aware orcas could be sued. How in blazes would you serve notice to one? :D

Did you, perhaps, mean 'Pseudorca?' As in Pseudorca crassidens, better known as the False Killer Whale?

anything can be sued in America I guess :D

But are they Pseudorca, or pilot whales? There seem to be two different opinions on this thread.

Was this male a stranded animal? where did the females come from? Is there a list of all animals held at the Seaworld parks?

Sully was indeed a rescued stranded animal. Bubbles and 9Lives have been at SeaWorld for years (around 30-40 I believe). There are several sites round the internet that list all of the dolphins and orca's in captivity, but I don't have links to hand, so it's worth having a search.

The Bottlenosed Dolphins and two female Pilot Whales have been in the Close Up Pool whilst the Dolphin Stadium is being rebuilt for the new show "Blue Horizons".
