Shepreth Wildlife Park Shepreth Wildlife Park News

That doesn't necessarily mean they are still there . I have a feeling that they weren't there when I last visited around March this year!

Agree, I didn't see them last time either but this time I did specifically check for the signage and it's not there. I find Shepreth does sign it's enclosure consistently. There wasn't a sign they'd been running about either. Might be off show of course but they also don't link on the map any more.

We've been twice this year, and I took pictures of all the signs (as far as I remember) the first time, and not seen it on both visits. We went with a good few months apart.

Just adding that when reviewing my trip notes for photo processing (how sad does that make me sound so moving on fast ) that the Cusimanse are not signed in the enclosure with the Aardvark near the meerkats any more. Don’t know if the Cusimanse have moved on, or something else has happened to them or I just missed them somewhere else - one at least was fairly old. Will be a shame if they have gone, not easy to see them.
When you mentioned about your notes, it reminded me of the old zoo guides that had a couple of blank pages at the end specifically for visitors to make notes

That would be fun! I use Evernote on my phone if I can get a signal and otherwise I also have a little notebook. Crikey I’m getting sadder every word.

Fun afternoon at Shepreth today. Lots of active animals. Car park was full when I arrived and the zoo was pretty busy but after an hour or so it thinned out until just a few people left in the couple of hours before closing.
  • One of the keepers confirmed the Cusimanse are no longer held in the collection
  • There is now one aviary (home to two blue and yellow macaws) in the section near the Wildcats. The one next to it has been converted to a third enclosure for the genets, with an extension fitted to the overhead run

  • The two male Scottish wildcats are still housed in the enclosure that was formerly occupied by the Scops owls (who continue to live near the pair of Striated Caricara). There is no signage about them but they are on show. Great views to be had of all the cats except Raymond (the male) who was a no show
  • The pygmy marmosets were very active and there seemed to be even more youngsters than previously announced
  • Maintenance and clearing up going on around the zoo, including to work on the big dinosaur models that are in the enclosure with the donkeys and one of the groups of black tailed prairie dogs
