The Environment and Heritage department has been handed a $1.4 billion budget for the forthcoming financial year, with $419 million to be spent on the management of national parks and to help protect native fauna.
Of the national parks funding, $71 million will help control pest animals and weeds and improve fire protection.
The budget also includes $121 million for the Environment Protection Agency, which helps enforce pollution controls.
Sydney's Taronga Zoo and Dubbo's Taronga Western Plains Zoo will get $17 million.
Another $26 million is being spent on Sydney's Centennial Parklands and Moore Park.
And $220 million will be spent funding the state's Solar Bonus Scheme, which pays owners of solar panels for feeding power back into the common grid.
