Shorelands Wildlife Gardens Shorelands Wildlife Gardens

It seems they really are striving for the unusual and that certainly interesting to me :D I wonder what species they will be adding during the winter break.

They have imported a pair of greater guinea pig from Pilsen

Shorelands....

How big are they? I'm thinking bigger than Domestic GP, smaller than Capybara.

They are only a shade larger than domestic Guinea Pig, truth be told.

Also brought back from the Czech republic was an immature Egyptian vulture from Zlin.

0.1 Painted Stork has now arrived from Zlin. In the spring, an additional 2.1 will also be imported from Zlin to form two pairs at Shorelands

Also in the same import were a pair (1.1) of Cabot's Tragopan chicks from Ostrava

A great arrival - be even nicer had it been a return of Blyth's to Europe but beggars cannot be choosers ;)

The Blyth's is still kept in Europe by private keepers, the gene pool is very small. The US population is now down to only a pair or so, so there is little hope for this species. The Cabot's is more promising I feel... :D

More new arrivals revealed - Grey-headed Gallinule have come from Ostrava

A female Geoffroy's cat has arrived from Zoo Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic. They will also receive a male later in the year from Poland.

Is it know which zoo in Poland it will be coming from? Looking on zootierliste, it will have to be either Krakow, Warsaw or Zamosc. I would suspect it being zamosc because they have a lone male whilst both Warsaw and Krakow have pairs:cool:
