Singapore Night Safari Singapore Night Safari News

Visited the park last week and apparently the civet walkthrough has been opened. There was no signage outside and a lot of people thought it was a flying fox enclosure based on the old signage.

It's really fascinating to see the civets up close and they are quite active. If I understood correctly, the keeper mentioned there are 13-14 civets in the enclosure, an equal mix of small-toothed palm civets and common palm civets. Not too sure whether or not masked palm civets will be added into the mix.

The spectacled owls exhibit has been closed for a while now - anyone knows whether it's part of the South American exhibit rotations?

One of the owl exhibit's glass panels shattered and is awaiting replacement.

Update: Tripod, the clouded leopard will be moved into the former leopard enclosure according to a keeper
Oh and the malay sambar deer exhibit has no animals inside, does anyone know the reason for their absence? The spotted wood owl exhibit was also blacked out

Interesting, when I visited this Monday, the spotted wood owl exhibit is still open. Couldn't see the owls clearly though, only a silhouette.

Does anyone know the full species lost of animals brought out during creatures of the night show as of now?

I understand that both clouded leopards might move to the former leopard exhibit. The clouded leopard exhibit will then be taken over by fossa (Mandai has 2.2 fossa so a pair will probably remain at the Zoo).

I thought the clouded leopards are related and they don't want them to breed? Fossa might only take over the exhibit left by Tripod (the exhibit closer to the lion lookout).

that's great! btw, will mandai changes the name of leopard trail?

The map has been updated and there seem to be 2 clouded leopard enclosures, one where the Sri Lankan leopards formerly were and their OG habitat, with a 3rd one with the fossas. The new civet walkthrough as well as the Brazilian porcupines and night monkeys are finally on the map. Also the antlers on the sambar deer render are gone... :p

clouded leopards housed together with fossas? this is the first time to see that and it's quite unique!

Probably just the cassowary enclosure, it was closed from January to June and the map still labels it as such even though it is open now

Thats a shame :( I was hoping that there would be some habitats since that part of the route now feels empty and mundane.

I've learnt that there are plans to redevelop the last stretch of the tram route. I don't have exact details but a set of "finale exhibits" are in the works. The first step is to vacate the Asiatic Black Bear exhibit. The 1.2 bears are slated to be exported (later this year or early next year) and the species will be phased out of Mandai's collection.
