Singapore Night Safari Singapore Night Safari species list

@Zooish, I recently saw a video of the night safari in which the new Indian rhino habitat was seen. The old giraffe exhibit is completely revamped and redeveloped to house the rhinos and it looks absolutely beautiful. Have you seen the new exhibit? Are there any possibilities that the giraffes and a few other African antelopes may return to the night safari?

I haven't seen the completed exhibit yet. It will officially open in January or February 2021 and can be viewed on the tram ride and on foot.

Giraffes and large antelopes are unlikely to return to Night Safari given the lack of space - almost 10 hectares of Night Safari will be taken up by the new Rainforest Park South.

Hi, I just visited the Night Safari on Sunday (20/11/20), Maned wolves have moved into the exhibit along the fishing cat trail. Small Asian Otters(3?) have apparently been introduced to the Binturong exhibit along the Leopard Trail. I'm interested to know the number of Malayan tigers currently held at the Night Safari though because I only noticed 2 Malayan tigers, one along the tram trail and another one at the east lodge trail. I saw a post by Zooish years back that there were 3 males and 3 females held at the Night Safari, are there really only 2 or are there others held off-exhibit?

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the update. Night Safari holds 2 breeding pairs of Malayan tigers, one each at the tram exhibit and trail exhibit. I suppose the tigers are rotated for display. You can see their photos and names in WRS' Instagram post from last year:

@Zooish, can you tell us anything about the individual Malayan tigers?
How related are these to other Malayan tiger stock in S.E. Asia?

Are these now managed by some form of a studbook within the region?
Anyone taking up tigers or is that a global WAZA thing?

Thank you so much for the welcome and reply :)
Also, I visited in December and not November which I incorrectly stated in my post.

@Zooish, what happened to the Parma wallabies? And the agile wallabies at the zoo?
Thanks a lot for all your responses. Actually the thing is that I am very young (only 15) and I visited the Singapore zoo and night safari 5 years ago and I absolutely loved it. So the things going on there keep me intrigued and I really like to be updated about them. My apologies if I disturb you a lot.

The parma wallabies died out apparently, while the agile wallabies were phased out.

Can @TheBirdMan or @Zooish provide a species list for the zoo as well? There is one for the zoo but that is absolutely incomplete, it looks blank! And I am really interested to know the species that are on display at the zoo. You can include the off show species as well. And it would be very helpful if the species list is divided according to the various zones in which the species are exhibited. Thank you .

Could you link the video?

So WRS ordered life sized models of 3 species for the new Tasmanian Devil exhibit. Besides the devils, there is also a model of a Red-necked Wallaby, which is already displayed at Wallaby Trail. The 3rd species is interesting - a Tiger Quoll. I'm not sure if this means WRS is getting Tiger Quolls, I understand there are none outside Australia, but that would be a very nice surprise if it turns out true. Or i could just be reading too much into it :)

Correction, there are Tiger Quolls at Hamerton.
