Singapore Zoo Singapore Zoo News 2024

I will FOREVER be pissed off with the changes being made in Reptopia, they just can't seem to find middle ground. What used to be my favorite part of the Zoo along with Fragile Forest and The Great Rift Valley of Ethiopia is now so underwhelming and inconsistent. While Fragile Forest retains it beauty and its collection, The Great Rift Valley Of Ethiopia and Reptopia really need to change their game. Someone please tell the curators about our feelings like why-:(:(:(

ALSO. It was a mentioned in a thread that the zoo received 5 Diana monkeys last year. Are they meant for Rainforest Park Africa or for the zoo? It's been quite a while since they arrived? And what about the breeding pair of L'hoest's monkeys kept off show?
The Great Rift collection hasn't really changed much though, they've added common cusimanses, servals and spur-winged geese in the last few years. The zoo still has a strong collection of reptiles, probably the biggest strength of its collection (discounting the other parks) alongside primates, even discounting numerous off-display species

Most of the newer primates like the Diana monkeys are for Rainforest Wild and the L'Hoest's monkeys are probably going to be there too

Similarly, do not maintain gnu and zebra with oneanother in close proximity, this will lead to aggression and competition for territory.
Not too long ago they had a black wildebeest living with zebras but back then they had plains zebras, who were replaced by Grevy's zebras a few years ago

I understand that Mandai's reptile collection is FANTASTIC. I absolutely love it. I have even watched a video of their behind-the-scenes facility. The thing is that I adore Singapore zoo and I have, lets say, an unhealthy obsession with it :p. I love it too much. I have an entire album in my gallery dedicated to my favorite enclosures from the zoo. I have lists of animals that are currently there in its collection or used to be earlier. And that is what makes me more critical of it when I see that there are so many discrepancies here and there. I remember how consistent the collection used to be when the developments of the new parks hadn't been implemented and when Reptopia was built.

What I don't like about the Great Rift Valley of Ethiopia is the geographical inaccuracy of its inventory. Earlier they had banded mongoose, black backed jackals, saddle billed storks. While Zooish did tell me about why these changes were made, it still makes me a little sad...yk? I love Singapore zoo and Prague zoo too much to see their inventory decline.

Haven't heard anything concrete. The priority projects now are the marine coastal habitat / dining hub, new animal hospital (to be built where the auditorium now stands) and Asian grasslands habitat.
Besides the Indian rhinos and the return of Malayan tapirs to the Zoo, are there plans for other Asian deer and antelope? Rhinos and tapirs probably wouldn't be fine with the elephants

And I thought I was the biggest Zoo enjoyer around back then as a kid, you fellow ZooChatters are awesome

The okapis are gonna be in Rainforest Wild, they're temporarily being housed there

Are there any plans for Frozen Tundra and the current elephant habitat?

So all the 4 okapis would be displayed at Rainforest Park? I'm really looking forward to the inventory changes that will be made to the zoo after the opening of both the Rainforest parks.
