I think what It mean by "mixed exhibit" is that the harbor seals and seal lions are mixed together while the penguins are in a separate enclosure.

I remember crying of happiness at the age of 14 when I saw flat-headed cats for the first time in Khao kheow open zooI even have a "dream Singapore zoo" species list BAhahaha. I'm quite crazy ik.
That's honestly pretty cool actually, always wonderful to see people so passionate about the Zoos and animal species we have like this
I think they used "mixed" in the loosest sense of the word, meaning it is not a single species exhibit. My udnerstanding is that the 3 species will each have their own enclosures.

Can't find it now but heard from somewhere here that the Chinese water dragon died recently. I hope the South American mix in the large Reptopia tank returns once its finished refurbishments or even the return of snapping turtles. Would love to see either the mata matas or snapping turtles back

Pffft....so you are telling me that Mandai has 90+ species of invertebrates and they hardly put 20 species on display at the Discovery Centre!

There are also more than a dozen butterfly species (depending on season) at the Butterfly Aviary.

Doubt that that will be the Chinese alligators' permanent home as they have 2 larger enclosures. Iirc the 2 female Siamese crocodiles who live by Sungei Buaya are adults so assuming this is a new individual? Glad to see reptiles back in these tanks tho smaller reptiles like turtles and African dwarf crocodiles would probably better fit the tanks long-term
Mandai only has 0.2 Siamese Crocodiles. Only the larger one is at Sungei Buaya.

Can confirm what Zooish said, checked there just now and it seems like only 1 is there. Didn't pass by the Chinese Alligators however with the exception of a tram ride.
Though as a little thing to add, the signboards by those enclosures for these Crocodilians were removed to be placed by the Pygmy Hippo tanks, which I find decently amusing for some reason

Some small updates on the herptile collection:
The relocaiton of the Chinese Alligators and Siamese Crocodile to the Pygmy Hippo exhibit seems permanent or at least semi-permanent. A bit of work was done to improve the fencing of the exhibits.
A transport crate has been placed in Panjang the Estuarine Crocodile's habitat. He should be moving soon. But to where?
With Panjang's exhibit vacated, that exhibit and the adjacent one that used to house Chinese Alligators could be upgraded together, although i have not come across any such plans.
With the upgrading of the Reptopia behind the scenes area, some of the off show gecko tanks have been temporarily moved closer to the viewing windows. 2 new species were labelled: Goniurosaurus huuliensis and Goniurosaurus luii. The geckos themselves can't be seen and i suppose they might eventually head to Rainforest Wild Asia.
Also, the Large-eyed Pit Viper is now on display at the former Red-tailed Racer tank at Reptopia.

Panjang seems to be moving to Rainforest Wild Asia along with some false gharials, Siamese crocodile and their Philippine crocodiles too. I guess Bornean Marsh is gonna become another false gharial exhibit. Leaving the Indian gharials, Chinese alligators and maybe some false gharials at the zoo. If they're moving that soon, fingers crossed Mandai announces the Rainforest Wild opening date soon
Let's hope they have breeding successes with Chinese alligators soon, although the former alligator snapping turtle/pig-nosed turtle tank might be too small for that

The 2 Chinese Alligators at the Zoo are females so no breeding for now.
I believe Mandai is hoping to open Rainforest Wild Asia at the end of this year, but many factors are still at play, including the translocation and settling in of the animals.
