Thank you. This list was extremely helpful in identifying some unsigned animals.
I think I spotted two species not listed above in the aviary/biodome:

1. Zebra dove (Geopelia striata)

2. I have massive doubts about the ID of this bird. My guess is Santa Cruz ground-dove (Pampusana sanctaecrucis). The species is listed for Bird Paradise on ZTL and my knowledge about doves/pigeons is limited. Most of the time, these birds were on the ground (I spotted at least 5 individuals), but the most okay picture is the one below.

Again, I'm not 100% sure about the ID, but I believe they are not (yet) listed.

Yes, I am certain those are Santa Cruz ground doves. I saw a couple in Fragile Forest as well.

I think the Javan Langurs are still roaming around the primate kingdom, just saw one yesterday, near the Tamarin and Douc Langur area. At first I thought it was a wild macaque coming into the Tamarin island and could only see it clearly once it jumped to a barrier near the island.

The keeper told me that most probably it was a female who didn’t get along with the other Javan langurs(?). Surprisingly, she jumped into the Douc Langur enclosure afterwards.

Which makes me curious: if that Javan Langur can move easily between the exhibits, what stops the other monkey species from jumping out of their islands? Are they not as good jumpers as the Javan Langurs?

Thanks for sharing. Did you see the Javan Langur jump into the Douc Langur island? Where was the point it jumped?

Unfortunately, we didn’t see the jump - only heard the rustling leaves. The Douc Langurs made a huge noise afterwards and thats when we noticed the Javan langur was already inside the enclosure.

It moved from the trees where it was located in the picture below to the trees on the left side of the road. Most probably, it made the jump there as we hear the noises not long after.

The langur stayed under the shelter inside the Douc langur enclosure for few minutes before went further in.


I talked to the keeper before the jump occurred. He briefly mentioned that the female Javan langur is interested / curious with the Douc langurs.

Thanks, that's very interesting. I've seen a Javan Langur in the Douc Langur island a couple of times and wondered how it got there. It's probably the same female. Javan Langurs do seem to be less averse to water; when Treetops Trail first opened it housed Javan Langurs but they kept escaping.
