After some years with economic losses, have the Norwegian company Lund gruppen AS, taken over the operation of the park from 1/1-2015. They will invest about 11 million euro for ten years and to build new exhibits and to renovate exhibits.

The park have now around 100000 visitors / year, but they hope to see 300000 visitors / year in future. They will also to employ more people in future. :)

It would be very interesting to hear how they plan to increase visitor numbers by that much - will they continue to stick with Scandinavian species? Polar Bears are probably the only major draw Scandinavian species they are currently lacking. But improvements to exisitng exhibits would be much appreciated for many species.
 
What I know, they will to build a new big encloses every year. They will also renovate other exhibits. Lund gruppen AS owns also a tivoli and an amusement park in Stavanger, Norway. They hope also that Skånes Djurpark in future are number one of the family destinations in Sweden. Jon Coe is also a part of the project and will help them to design new exhibits.
 
The park is looking for some of old camping equipment which will be use like props in the park.

For some days ago a person has written on the park´s Facebook page, that the park has sold wolves pups to ''private people'' which is incorrect!

A news for this season will be a mascot for the park which is a mole (they have got inspiration from the german writers Werner Holzwarth & Wolf Erlbruch. The children can also explore various kind of animals poo from over 30 various species (of course not real poo).


The entry building to the park has got a makeover since the end of last year.

Before the makeover of the entry building was looked like a ''local library or a school/kindergarten''. But now, it looks more like a entry to a ''adventure park''.

1.2 European brown bears have been born for this season. They have newly come out for the first time together with their mom, Ester.

But the visitor must wait in some weeks until they can see the cubs!

Is there any indication of exactly what this will be? Like a themed children's zoo with domestic farm animals, or an indoor attraction, or something else? Where in the park will it be?

I have to say that Shaun the Sheep is rather amusing, but I'm not sure its a good idea to bring fictional characters into a zoo, as they often become "uncool" fast...
 
There has been a heavy snowfall in the end of the weekend in Southern Sweden and heavy snow has fallen at some of the aviaries which has been broken the roof mesh of them and some birds has escape.

Some of the species which have escape are: European barn owl and Common raven

The staff have also rescue some of the birds and they´re located in off-show holding.

I don't know what about the situation of beaver and otter. But I cannot find any information about them on the park´s homepage. Possible they're not left in the park?

My last and only visit to the park was for 11 years ago and what I remember the otter exhibit was the same then as now.

Yes they have still Raccoon dog but they're moved to the exhibit which was hold Arctic fox before (close to the lynx). :)

Thanks for the info. The otter enclosure was really good, large and spacious, so its a shame if it no longer being used. The beaver exhibit was nothing great through.
 
Fåret Shaun land /Land of Shaun the sheep was open for the first time for the general visitors at 10.00 / 10 a.m o'clock today. The biggest attraction include a tractor path, where visitors can see animated characters from the serie. But also farm animals.

Margareta Pålsson, Governor of Skåne/Scania country says: It feels fantastic & fun and I've campaigned for 4 years for this park and i'm so lucky because the park have escaped closure, but now is a ''top modern park'' and have good by-law about animals and nature and pedagogy for children.

I visited the park this Sunday. I was there last about 6-7 years ago.
I was a bit worried beforehand about how much of the zoo had turned into a "Shaun the Sheep" theme park. But the theme is pretty much restricted to one corner of the park mostly for kids, with a ride, a play ground and some domestic animals including of course sheep. The kids seemed to like it, and the waffles in the coffee shop there were also nice for adults.
The rest of the zoo is mostly as I remember it, which I was happy about. Scandinavian animals in large, natural looking enclosures. I've posted a few photos in the gallery.
One disadvantage of the large enclosures is of course that you don't always see the animals. We managed to spot most by doing two rounds of the park. The foxes we only saw during feeding. Both wolves and lynx have young at the moment according to signs etc., but we didn't see them, although we did see adult animals.
There were no otters or beavers, at least on show. A corner of the park was fenced off, where I think they used to be, so I don't know if some building activity is going on there, and if they might make a return later.
Also, the aviary that apparently collapsed due to heavy snow in the winter is still empty and most birds off show. Some were shown during a bird flying/demontration. This day it was a common kestrel and two young ravens. The talk (both for th birds and during feeding) were good and interesting, but of course only in Swedish.
It was easier to reach the park by public transport from Copenhagen than I had realised, so it won't be as long before I go back again.
