Hey Pertinax, I never claimed it to be major! ;)

I wonder why the zoo is announcing this in a similar manner to the popular giraffes? Surely a simple sign at the enclosure would've been appropriate...

In 2007 Chester Zoo had its highest ever attendance.

In 2007 they exhibited some new murid species.

Proof then that the paying public want mice, mice and more mice.

... maybe it's a 'slow news' week at Chester Zoo? Of course it could be a subtle ploy by the zoo to generate increased interest in Turkish Spiny Mice. By denying access they create a reverse situation- ' I wanna see the spiny mice...' just my imagination running riot here.

No, she is much shorter than a normal baby giraffe. Taun posted in the right place.

Is it correct that while Margaret is being handraised, the other calf is being mother-reared normally or is it having to have assistance as well?
Margaret is been hand reared the other i believe is having some assistance as well, not sure why though.

Yet another litter of 3 Azaras Agouti have been born in the Macaw aviary,a pair of Sunda Island Whistling Thrushes have been re-leased in the Tropical Realm but could not see them also they are not labeled, the Wrinkelled Hornbill female is out of the nest no sign of any chick(s),also the Phillipine Croc enclosure have been covered over the mesh on top with plastic sheet to keep the heat in.Lion cub was out and about with Asha in the afternoon seams to be walking fine,Asoka was out in the morning so at the moment they are rotating the Lions outside as and when they can get Asha in.

This is small news :D Zoogiraffe you say its yet another litter?? How many other have been born in the zoo this year?

Good news, seems the cub is growing up well. It must be about just over a month old now.

Think the agoutis have had 5 young this year. The two males are now in the parrot breeding centre and the females and babies in the macaw aviary. The breeding male has been seperated to give the female a rest.
