JC is Chester Zoo's breeding male mandrill - and a firm favourite with many Chester ZooChatters.Yesterday his tool using exploits were featured on BBC Radio 4's flagship news show 'Today' and can be viewed on the BBC website BBC Nature - Mandrill monkey makes 'pedicuring' tool

There are lots of monkey jokes that I could make here - but I am too fond of JC to make any :)

Did they make a joke about him on the radio? It's usually the way with BBC presenters - they fawn all over celebrities but appear ignorant of anything to do with wildlife and finish with a 'joke'.
Steps down from soapbox.....

No they played it straight (Radio 4 usually does ;)). A presenter interviewed the researcher and then he talked with his oppo about orange sticks for a moment. I was a little disappointed that JC didn't get a namecheck on the broadcast or the website.

Here's Kumbuka at Paignton taking tool use to another level. He pulled up clumps of grass, wetted them under the drinking spout and used them to wash the plastic strips over his door :)
