Smithsonian National Zoo Smithsonian National Zoo News 2012

in a 2009 report it says the Motithang Takin Preserve receives up to 100 animals per year (mostly deer) that have been injured by dogs or people, which the centre cares for.

Note Cards | NCAAZK

The zoo is are selling note cards with animal made art on the covers. They're greatly priced at $2.50 and there's quite a variety. I wish more zoos did this as I love animal made art!

My guess would be right by the Great Cats exhibit cause when i was there labor day weekend all around the front of the exhibit was bull dozed and fenced with under construction signs. so most likely there.

Now that I think about it, I saw that construction, too. Since about half the zoo was under construction I didn't think much about it.

No mention of Nile Hippos. Sitatunga, Red River Hog, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Lesser Kudu, and African Crowned Cranes are planned.

Where are they going to fit them? If I remember correctly, part of the exhibit is right by the road. Do they plan on using some of the Cheetah enclosures or are they going to remove the Maned Wolves and Emus (who don't really belong there in the first place)?

The zoo website mentions that sitatunga, hornbills, and red river hogs were already residing at Cheetah Conservation Station. Although, can anyone confirm if they're actually on exhibit?

I haven't found any proof that they are residing at CCS already. Perhaps they are in quarantine?

I went in July and all the exhibits were filled but none of the mentioned species were there. As BZF said, they might be in quarantine but I'm not sure. I went on the zoo's website and I can't find anything on any of those species being at the zoo so please post where you aquired this information from.
I hope they put them in the current Emu exhibit and Maned Wolf exhibit because those animals simply don't belong here.
