That’s great news we’ll all get to watch Xiao Qi Ji grow up, as his siblings have before him.

Although the prospect of a new breeding pair after Tian Tian and Mei Xiang is exciting, it’d be nice if the zoo was continued to be granted loans throughout the rest of these panda’s lives. They could provide a valuable source of data on geriatric panda care; after blessing the North American Zoo and Aquarium industry with close to two decades of reproductive data.
