Mizi a female Snow leopard has arrived from WHF to breed with the park's male Aron after his mate (and Mizi's sister) Kush died from cancer.

I think it was Paradise Park featuring in the BBC1 drama 'New Tricks' last night . The story involved the 'eating' of a keeper by a tiger . Most of the filming featured the tigers but the gibbons could be seen in the background and some of the paddocks were also seen . It can't have been that thrilling - I fell asleep and missed the end !

Spot on Bele it was Paradise Park that was used in New Tricks.

I've just received an e-newsletter from PWP which says that Narnia (the female white tiger) will be leaving WHF and returning to PWP next weekend and will be joined by a male white tiger before the end of October (also posted on the WHF forum).

They are moving the jaguars down to WHF and the White tigers will be going into their enclosure. Personaly I would have preferred to see the jaguars stay rather than bring in the White tigers!

In other news a new male White Cheeked Gibbon was transfered from Twycross last week. His name is Ethan

The Jaguar/White Tiger move strikes me as a breeding effort, as the two jaguars at paradise (Aries and Athena, correct me if i'm wrong) have not yet bred and have been together for quite a few years now, so I would suspect that they are desperate to get them to start.
As for the enclosure move, this enclosure was built to house tigers anyway, and did hold tigers until about 2004, so things are going back as to how they used to be!
I'm not suprised that Paradise seem to have made an effort to get Narnia back (and suprise suprise with a male white too) considering all of the effort they made promoting their white cats.
Let's hope these two breed at WHF. One more thing I wouldn't have said unless they're going into a brand new enclosure, that the enclosure at WHF would be any better than the one at Paradise, most of the WHF enclosures, especially the last time i visited in 2009, where just generally grassy squares with a few platforms and trees, whether or not this has changed I do not know, but it would be interesting to see.

I think I have some photos of Thabo, after my many visits and feeding encounters, will dig out and post soon

Bacal an eight month old white tiger has joined Narnia at Paradise, he arrived from Beauval.

Mugwai one of the lar gibbons celebrated her twelfth birthday today as well as having a youngster born 5th January. This is her and mate Gremlin's first offspring together.

Visited last week . It is very commercial and seems to be aimed at families with young children . Major changes since my previous visit were the former not-very-good Toucan House is now mainly small mammals including a walk-in Egyptian fruit bat area . Only one toucan left which is free-flying in the small Tropical House ( particularly enjoyed the 3-banded armadillo in here with sloth ) . The range of cages next to the snow leopards that housed quite a few cat species now only has ocelots and the female leopard from Santango . The 'white' lions are not very white !
The 2 new gibbon cages are roomy , the lar family with recent baby are in one side , on the other the 2 female northern white-cheeked gibbons ( mother and young adult daughter ) that came from RSCC along with Ethan the hand-reared male from Twycross . I was told that he is not yet fully mature and is showing some interest in the younger female though still more interested in humans .
Went here before a visit to Colchester . If I had done it the other way round would have found it very disappointing as I considered Colchester to be in different league .

3.0.0 Southern Cheetah are due to arrive from Sweden (Boras?) on 18th September. They will replace resident female, Mia who is moving down to WHF today

My point precisely. I would be AMAZED if anyone in the UK bred white tigers, however why go to the trouble of getting a male from France if you had no intention of breeding? I also think it would be a shocking decision from such a prolific BIAZA member, having hosted the Annual conference earlier this year?

Getting a male in from France = From their point of view two white tigers is better than just one! I am not sure whether they would breed them or not, they have bred their white lions and have gone very heavy with them at WHF. However I agree, White tigers are a waste of any breeding effort, but time will tell what Paradise have in mind.
