Snow near you

Just wanted to find out how much snow you've had in your area and whether it has closed your local zoo or not...

Six inches of snow plus somemore tonight!

Colchester Zoo is still open but the Santa Grotto was closed.

We had about 2 centimetres, and it's all melted where it wasn't shady.

It tried to snow here for about 2 minutes, nothing stuck though.

The Mid-Atlantic region in the US is getting pounded! The Washington DC area is projected to get 20" (50 centimeters?). They got over a foot of snow in North Carolina. In Chicago, we got 2" with another 2" arriving tomorrow--not bad! It's very wet, heavy snow.

Most of our temps here are in the mid 30s so I dont think we will be getting any this year lol

I was going to visit Marwell on Monday, but because of the snow I couldn't get a lift. I plan to go on the 28th though, if it doesn't snow again. :)

I live in west yorkshire and it has been snowing nearly all day and we have 3 inches of snow at the moment!

Merry Christmas to all!!!

My personal craziest zoo trip ever?

Went to Hamerton today (with girlfriend & ZooGiraffe) to meet TwyrossZoo there. We made up half the total visitors for the day!

The roads for the last five or so miles before the zoo were snow covered and had to be negotiated with some care. We saw a hare running across a field en route.

There was a good covering of snow all around the zoo with drifts close to a foot deep near the pets corner/reindeer area. The temperature, per my car indicator, never went above zero all day. We all came fairly close to slipping over at various times (to the hilarity of the non-slippers on each ocassion)

Surprisingly most of the animals, with the exception of some of the birds (locked in for the day), were showing well. In particular I got my best views of the Maned Wolves and Jackals for some time.

On the way home we saw a Buzzard and a car in a ditch (there for the grace).

A crazy-ass road trip, I loved it and would probably do it a again should the call arise.

Wonderful!

Was hoping to be there as well Shorts but weather put paid to that - it's been snowing pretty much continuously here all day and I just couldn't risk a journey of that distance. I hope some of you got some photos! (hint, hint!)

And I also hope zoogiraffe fell on his backside, but only from a comedic perspective! :D

The Philadelphia Zoo, National Zoo, Maryland Zoo and the North Carolina Zoo are closed due to the snow. That's all I found so far. Any other zoos?

Understand your non-appearance -Chesterfield & North Derbyshire usually gets it bad.

We got a few photos between us -I'm sure Zoogiraffe'll be posting them (I haven't figured out how to yet).

Zoogiraffe didn't hit the deck, Twycrosszoo came the nearest and pretty much "split his difference":D

For the record, I wasn't wearing shorts today:D

i went to whipsnade today, they had stopped cars driving round and was told at the gate that quite a few animals were shut indoors. there was between 5 and 10 inches of snow.

No snow in Paignton but black ice early this morning made for a hair raising visit to a hilly zoo. I changed my mind about being a keeper ;) - they must have been slithering about for 2 hours before the doors opened

Spent last night bashing snow off the aviary netting at Birdland, had about an inch in 2 hours, open for business as usual

Belfast has been closed since Sunday, its not so much the snow but a combination of snow / ice and the steep gradient of the hill that the zoo is located on, looking good for opening tomorrow but we'll see how it goes
