Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens So... You'd Like To Run A Zoo

Would be great if someone in LA went to this and reported back to us all.

A mandatory Proposers’ Conference will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at 200 North Main Street, Room 1500, City Hall East, Los Angeles, CA 90012. All Proposers are required to attend.

Maybe the ZooChat community should get together and submit a proposal. mstickmanp could be the on-the-ground manager and the rest of us could post helpful management advice to him on this website throughout the day.

The scary thing is that this probably wouldn't be the looniest management structure that has ever been thought of...

Hahaha, that would make my dream come true!:)

I could possibly leave work early that day and attend. I work at the federal bldg., all of two blocks away. I attended one of the original votes back in 2005 over the construction fight for the Elephant habitat.

First step in running the zoo: acquire more money, even though the zoo has probably spent close to $200 million during the past 15 years.

Second step in running the zoo: bulldoze all of those damn c-shaped exhibits! There is probably 20 of them and they taint the entire facility.

I actually don't think the c-shaped exhibits are that bad. They are generally decent for the animals. Not the most aesthetically pleasing, but still far from awful exhibits imo.

I have to agree, they are not the best aesthetically pleasing exhibit, but they are good to great for the animals (except for the Jaguar and some birds of prey). I've been inside most of those exhibits and they are WAY bigger than what it is seen from the public side.

Bull-dose half of the C-exhibits, sounds like a good compromise. I always feel like going to the C-exhibits is like rolling a dice, never know what you are going to get.
