Solenodon studies

They are a relict species and actually you have 2 species (if not sooner we determine more exist, you never know what a rainforest might turn up later ...): Cuban and Hispaniolan solenodon. Their ecology is little understood and remains cloaked in mystery .. save for that poisonuos bite! :rolleyes:

The National Zoo in Havana used to exhibit Cuban solenodons in the past. The Frankfurt Zoo information is new to me ...!
 
Watching the video [thanks Alan] There is something about the way it walks that seems to be half way to walking on its hind legs? It seems to move as if it is a child walking on all fours!

Or is it just me:confused:

Fantastic animal, l wounder if he would prefer it if we left him alone:o

That's exactly what I thought - except that I imagined that the child would probably have a wet nappy (diaper) to make it hold its legs at that precise angle :)
