Where are solenodons currently kept in captivity? I know Hispaniolan is kept at ZOODOM, are there any other holders?

Where is ZOODOM? I dont know any of them in captivity.(But i'm not surprised if zoos inside their native range have some.)
The Dominican Republic, hence "zoo" plus "dom". They house (or housed) the native Hispaniolan Solenodons off-display.
I had heard they were on-display, but my source was a little iffy anyway.

Though apparently they are to go on display. To quote @GiantEland's description on the exhibit photo - "A behind the scenes sneak peak of the Hispaniolan mammals buildings due to open this summer."
ZooDom has had solenodons on display in the past, but the previous posts about them being on display currently are incorrect. The current enclosure is not yet open but will be the first on-display solenodons at the zoo for some time.

There are apparently two Hispaniolan solenodons that are currently kept at ZOODOM.
This was according to the zoo who I contacted via email and asked.
A single individual is kept in a new enclosure located next to one that holds a native hutia species and the other individual is being kept off show. They are trying to adapt these shy animals to the presence of the general public.
I don't think there has been any breeding success with the species as of yet but hopefully there will be in the future.

I saw a Solenodon off show when I visited the zoo a few years ago. They are much commoner than used to be thought.

Yes, it seems that is the case with the Hispaniolan solenodon (and hopefully the Cuban species too).
I remember reading that this is what the long-term ZSL study into the species apparently concluded.
Do you think there is a need for these to be maintained ex-situ by zoos outside of Hispaniola for conservation purposes?
