Some of my Photography

I must admit I'm very poor at adding details to flickr and thus I really need to go back and find when these shots were taken to work out which zoo they come from. That and these are a little old now - a half year or a bit more as I've not been to the zoo in ages (really must get to go going again when I get the chance).

I'll admit I did add a little grain to this; but it really was that dark and foggy - this was taken at Whipsnade on a spooky day with the clouds basically right over the whole zoo all day - rather bad for photography; but at least you get to see the er - 5 legged beast!

The Ostrich pic doesn't really do it for me, but that's just me. The other photos, however, are sharp and well-framed and would look good in any magazine or zoo guide.

What sort of camera/lens are you using?

I like your prairie dog the best: you have caught a beautiful pose, the composition is good and the low viewpoint suits the subject well - moreover it gives a lovely background to make those whiskers stand out. I like the otter a lot too. The stork is nice but I think that the reflection of the flamingo in the background is rather distracting.
I look forward to seeing more of your images.

Hix I assure you it was no ostrich - just take a look its clearly got 4 leggs or some forelimbs! But yes that was more me fooling around after a very grey day.

At present it varies a little but mostly its a Canon 7D coupled with a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L MII or a Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 OS

Jibn and Funky - my thanks and I would save that I can't recall the zoo several are from; Whipsnade was only two. Hopefully I'll get to a zoo again this coming year and can bombard the galleries (probably will be Whipsnade or Kessingland/Africa Alive)

Lemur - yes its one of my favoured shots as well; really came out far better than I imagined. Was rather fun to get the shot too as they were in an enclosed area, but you could go into the pen and thus a nice low shot was easy (or at least a lot easier than for many other animals at the zoo).

Sounds like the prairie dog picture was taken at Banham :)

I replaced your images with links because some of the images were too large for the space.

If the first photo isn't an ostrich, what is it? I can't see it being anything else.

I think he was joking because it appears to have more than two legs.

Funky I think you might be right with that suggestion - it rings a bell.

Childonias - my thanks; and yes I should have taken more care with the size I embedded into the forums. And yes its certainly a quip on the fact that it was a 4 legged ostrich :)
 
I do appear to come up with error messages whenever it comes to ostrich input in my CPU.
