The Chinese name of Pheasant Garden (of Beijing Zoo) is “雉鸡苑”。"雉" means "pheasant", "鸡" literally means "chicken", and "苑" means "garden".

In Chinese, the Chrysolophus pheasants are called “锦鸡”, literally "brocade chicken", while the Crossoptilon pheasants are called “马鸡”, literally "horse-chicken".

Here's someone's post at the Chinese website "Weibo":

Translated to English: "Today I went to the zoo with my roommate, as a delayed celebration for Children's Day. When we got to the 'Pheasant Chicken Garden', when I was marveling at "so many kinds of", an elderly uncle stood by me said with Northeastern accent: 'Aren't them just chickens?' I immediately looked again, sure enough, overall was a block of chicken, boring enough, turned out to be a poultry farm."

In addition, the southern crowned pigeon in Pheasant Garden is also considered as a breed of chicken by many tourists.

Translated to English: "This chicken is sooo cool, I'm at Beijing Zoo."

The Beijing Zoo keeps it in Pheasant Garden, and its Chinese name is “紫胸凤冠鸠”. "鸠" means "dove", but seems almost similar to "鸡"(chicken)......

Does anyone has an actual inventory of the Pheasant Garden because the Beijing Zoo has always been famous for its pheasant collection.
