Of course he would have paid import tax... Or else he wouldn't be selling them or advertising them on his Facebook page! I personally think the carvings look incredible

Import Tax, I fear and many others fear he has not and he has not made any and applied for declaration and quarantine. Wonderfully carved and very nice but surly Fair trade and eco-friendly would be better for a zoo/park rather than gloating at something to show off?

I mean I do understand how bigcat speciali can be when it comes to South Lakes and Gill himself, but technically this is zoo news even if it isn't animal-related so personally I find it fair game to discuss if people wish.

"many others"? Is there some Facebook group for people who think David Gill is smuggling furniture into the country under his cowboy hat? The dust bunnies under your bed do not count as people.
As usual with your posts, you literally have no clue what Gill has or has not done in this situation, and you certainly cannot tell what kind of wood the furniture is made of from the photograph, whether it was Fair Trade, Eco-friendly, or anything else.
If you genuinely do "fear" whatever it is you think is happening here, then contact the appropriate Customs department.
I think you need to familiarise yourself with sarcastic wit.
Call to reality: please have a thread for those wishing to rant till infinity and a thread for the real zoo news. I have really had it up to here with those lambasting a certain individual on every post where this pertains to SWL.
BTW: said Mr. Gill can hardly be called belonging to my inner circle and I also do have reservations regarding some of his storylines / stances / behaviors, but I at least can distinguish the black, grey and white from one-another, .... unlike some.

No I just find it pointless making comments when people that,HAVE NEVER VISITED a place will blindly defend it and its owner with out any question!!!

Well I would be very disappointed if you stop criticising/commenting on issues, where you find fault. It is healthy to have debate and it would be pretty boring if we all agreed on everything. I imagine that as SLs, hopefully continues to improve, that your views might alter and this will be reflected in your posts.
My only beef (and not with you) is the personal and rambling nature of some of the comments and the tedious tabloid quotes.
I suspect that dublinlion is referring to F. E. Smith, the 1st Earl of Birkenhead - he was responsible for press censorship during the Great War and was an opponent of the Irish nationalist movement in the years leading up to the Irish War of Independence and the formation of the Irish Free State.

Actually, on further thought I think my history nerd side has led me to overthink the matter
dublinlion has referred to the critics of SLWAP as being akin to flat-earthers in the past; it is much more likely he is doing the same here rather than making an obscure historical reference!

Thanks to TLD for the funniest post for a long time
I was trying to work out how SLWAP was linked to Further Education when he produced this bombshell. It took my thoughts back from the F E college where I worked to my own distant student days: I sometimes ate my dinner beneath the grim visage of F E Smith's portrait (or if I escaped him, I was overlooked by his equally unattractive and equally initialised contemporary, C B Fry). As a Wallaseyan, I am also bound to point out that once Mr Smith chose to become Lord Birkenhead, he spent the rest of his life as the ultimate personification of an oxymoron
Does this make me as suspicious as my learned and tea-loving friend?

Don't judge all the critics by bigcat speciali but *do* visit SLWAP sometime, so you can judge the matter by personal experience. You might still disagree with the critics, of course, but hopefully it would allow you to see where they are coming from.

Cripes, lighten up Dave, the Flat Earth ref. is meant as a tease and I do quite like all the people you mention, and in fact have no real beef with any one who takes the trouble to post and express their views.

Actually I like reading and trying to decipher the prose of BSS1, and I would guess that he has good reasons for his anger.
So if we can stay within the rules, we can agree/disagree without causing
unnecessary offence.
