We visited today was quite apprehensive about going after what has happened in the past but we actually had a lovely time there the rhinos were a treat to watch outside especially the younger ones didn’t get to see a few of the animals but the wolves and gibbons where quite vocal managed to see one of the honeybadgers as it was popping outside had a very nice chip butty aswell lol

Other 2023 News:

On April 22nd, the zoo announced that their Indian runner ducks are back on exhibit after being off-exhibit in November 2022 due to avian influenza.

On March 2nd, the zoo announced that a (1.0) giant anteater named Joao passed away at age 14 due to a decline in health.

On April 3rd, the zoo announced that a (0.0.1) ring-tailed lemur was born.

Good Morning Followers,
We’d like to let you all know that the lovely Arctic Wolf Pack will soon be departing from Safari Zoo, headed to a new home within the UK. We won’t spoil the surprise for those at their new home by announcing before they’ve had chance to!
The move is currently scheduled to take place the last week of the month, we are advising anyone who would like to come and say goodbye to the pack one last time plan to do so by the 20th August.
We have made no secret that the wolf enclosure is one of the historical enclosures which we have been most unhappy with since taking over in 2017, however, homing an already established pack of wolves to enable works to take place has proven difficult. Luckily, the offer of a home came from a zoo which was looking to add a new and exciting development, and our lovely pack fit the bill paw-fectly. This move will enable some much needed recovery of their area.
We’d like to take the opportunity to invite all wolf adopters along to visit their wolves prior to their departure, Becca has contacted you all today, but please get in touch with Rebecca on members@cumbriazoo.co.uk to arrange your visit.
We know the wolves will be missed by visitors and by staff alike, but we know they will be ever so happy in their new home.
 
Any ideas where they are going. Knowsley safari perhaps. They have that wolf enclosure on the foot safari available.

This is sad to hear, I do love seeing the wolves, but I agree that their enclosure is less than ideal. I'm going to visit next week and see if I can get some last couple of photos of the wolves before they're gone.
 
Yeah thanks for this info guys! I wasn't sure were they were going and I totally where @JonWild is coming from, they some if my favourites too! The enclosure, however, was an original from when David Gill owned the park so I'm not surprised they want it gone.
 
I visited Safari Zoo again today, mostly to test out the pair of binoculars I recently bought from a charity shop. Despite the weather, it was a very good visit, and I managed to get a good look at almost everything. The only no-show to really speak of was the raccoon, which I'm not 100% sure they still have.
Along with the Arctic wolves, sadly the Chilean flamingos have also left the collection, and have been moved to another zoo (the keeper I was talking to didn't specify which one). The two walkthrough aviaries are still open for now, and I got a good view of some mitred parakeets I don't often get to see in the Tambopata aviary. On a side note, the population of wild rats that also live in Tambopata were very active as well, taking advantage of the bird's food dishes as they usually do.

The flamingos have moved to Auchingarrich Wildlife Park.

They should still hold 0.1 raccoon, I have seen her on most visits, maybe just bad luck. The wild rats are quite noticeable at South Lakes, however, most zoos seem to have them.

Yeah, last time I went to Safari Zoo, saw about 2 or 3 rats. It seems to be much more noticeable than others zoos around the U.K and the only time I’ve seen another wild rodent at a zoo was a mouse at Paignton.
