The sound is very similar to the ones from the Jabiru (Jabiru mycteria). They just clap their beaks.

Well, that is being incredibly lucky, I have only seen shoebills once and thought they were so common that I didn´t even take a picture of them.
ps. this was my time in which I almost didnt know any interesting animals and wasn´t very interested in zoos.

But I have seen loads of Jabirus in zoos in Colombia and in the wild.
